Surgery is among the more popular means of penis enlargement. It is based on the notion that about one-third to one-half of the entire length of the human penis is inside the body. Penile lengthening surgery involves the release of the suspensory ligament that causes the penis to arch under the pubic bone. As a result, the penis is allowed to protrude further outward and on a straighter path, making it appear longer.
Penile surgery, though, is widely discouraged in patients with a functional penis. Aside from its steep cost and the risks involved, there is also a high dissatisfaction rate among men who underwent lengthening surgery. This is confirmed by London-based urologist Nim Christopher, who stated that more than 70 percent of men who have undergone the operation were unhappy with the results.
Another drawback of surgery is how it involves stretching of the penis as a post-surgical procedure to prevent the suspensory ligament from becoming shorter than its original size. For many, this could prove to be too far an extent to increase penis size, when in fact stretching alone may serve as an effective male enhancement technique with the help of a device designed for such purpose. Such a device works on the principle of traction, through which penile cells can multiply and expand.
